Meet the Trainer

Alissa Womac

Alissa founded Summit Sporthorses with a passion for developing confident horses and riders through thoughtful, individualized training.

Her journey with horses began at a young age, mucking stalls in exchange for lessons and every opportunity to learn. After graduating high school, she spent four years in Southern California working as an assistant trainer for several respected programs while also grooming for top show barns and learning the ins and outs of horse showing at a high level. In January of 2022, she moved back to Washington to be closer to family and continued expanding her knowledge under accomplished trainers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Now, with nearly 10 years of experience as an assistant trainer, she is excited to build a program of her own.

Alissa has a well-rounded background in correct flatwork, hunter/jumper development, and young horse training. Her many off-the-track Thoroughbred projects have given her a deep appreciation for the breed and for the process of thoughtfully restarting and developing horses for new careers. She believes in creating individualized programs that prioritize correct fundamentals, confidence, and long-term success for both horse and rider.

Outside of the barn, Alissa enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She hopes that one day her kids will ride alongside her and share the same love for horses that has shaped so much of her own life.
